Fourteen years ago today a little baby girl began teaching us lessons about multiplication.
Miranda was born into our family.
All my fears about not having enough love for two
disappeared in an instant.
disappeared in an instant.
We had a daughter!
A Princess!
And the love just grew...
What a precious and beautiful young lady she is becoming!
She sweet, tender heart has been so beautifully expressed in the days leading up to this 14th birthday.
A 14th birthday in the U.S. may not be a BIGGIE. It's not her first double digit (10). It's not the official teenage year (13). There is not driver's permit (15 1/2) and not driver's lisence (16). She can't vote (18). There is not special decade significance (20...30...40...etc.) She's JUST 14!
But my oldest daughter knows that this birthday means the world to a child in a Chinese orphanage...
As the clock strikes midnight, ending a child's 13th year, the window of opportunity to be adopted into a family closes for children in China.
My daughter has been agonizing for days over the realization that many children the same age she is will never be welcomed home into their forever families. They won't know the security of their parents' love, the warmth of a daddy's embrace, the nurture of a mother's kisses.
In that same moment,
she expresses thanks for her own home and family
...and for her sisters
...here and still in China.
My Princess Miranda's heart has awakened
to the plight of the orphans
to the plight of the orphans
...and the multiplication of love for the fields of the fatherless.

Thank you, my Father God, for the blessing of adoption in our lives and in our home. Thank you for our adoption into Your family. We are orphans no more. Thank you for all my beautiful daughters...especially Miranda on this her special day.
