So...soapbox time...
I've confessed that my heart is aching for another child, another little girl in China in addition to our Hadassah for whom we are paperchasing (dossier almost ready to go to China). I would LOVE to bring her home too, but that is just huge...and Christopher is not feeling God's calling. I pray and pray for this little one to find her family and go home.
I've been watching her file on another agency's listing. I have been waiting for the to update it so kids who have already been matched with families would be removed from the list. I knew that there was one little boy who had a family so I've been watching his file to see when the list was updated. I just knew that as soon as it was she would be gone. How could there not be a line a mile long waiting for this precious little one?
I checked again last night. He is gone. She is still on the list.
People! My heart aches for these kids! I'm sorry, but I am not only the birth mama to my four oldest. I am the adoptive mama to my two youngest...both waiting children from China...both listed as "special needs"...and both "older adopted" kiddos. Ugh! The world is filled with so many orphans in need of families to love on them.
Domestic...international...fostered...special needs...older....
They are not labels...they are just kids!
I'm sorry, but I'm just so frustrated. Families are waiting in line for a Chinese adoption of a "healthy" baby or toddler for five years now. Families also wait for other babies...domestically and internationally. I understand. Truly I do. Wanting to experience all the "baby" of a child. Those moments of their lives are so fleeting. But all this waiting for babies leaves so many kids waiting for families.
I will never say that adoption is easy. It is the hardest thing I've ever done. Older child adoption is definitely not easy. The bumps in the road don't go away magically. The journey is long...it lasts a lifetime.
But please, oh please, oh please, God's people, He calls us to care for the fatherless, the orphans.
What is His call on your life?
Are you called to assist an adoptive family...financially...or supporting them through the difficult first days with a simple meal?
Are you called to missions work with these kiddos...to love on them until they go home?
Or most importantly...are you called to parent a child...to love on them every day?
So many children are waiting. My precious little one is waiting. She needs a family. She needs a home. She needs to know the love of a family...of a father...and of her heavenly Father.

Matthew 25:31-45 (NIV)
"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'
"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
