Learn to do right, seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow.
Isaiah 1:17 (NIV)
Who are the FATHERLESS?
Join with me in your imagination to STEP INTO THEIR STORY…
…the story of one little boy…
Police arrest a man and imprison him for his crimes. There is a child with him. A beautiful, healthy, little boy. But the man is not his father.
Upon interrogation, the man confesses that he bought the boy. However, he refuses to reveal any more.
The child is placed in the care of a local Social Welfare Institute, or more commonly know in America as an orphanage. He his fed and clothed. He is cared for by the staff. And there he remains.
Who is the child?
Where did he come from?
Was he sold by impoverished parents in a desperate attempt to survive?
Was he stolen away?
Kidnapped?
Are his parents still searching for their missing son?
Does his mama cry herself to sleep each night?
The questions remain with no answers. Questions that trap this innocent child in a deep, dark chasm of gray areas and a tangled web of red tape and rules.
Alone.
Without knowing the answers to the questions surrounding this precious child, he can NOT be declared an orphan. He can NEVER be adopted into a family.
Living in the limbo of the unknown
The children and staff of the orphanage…the only family he knows
The shelter of an institution…the only home he knows
No justice
No hope
No future
Lost and forgotten
in the sea of over 1.3 billion people
in the largest Asia country
He is just one…one child…one story
There are over 140 million children worldwide.
How will you "take up the cause of the fatherless"?
What is God asking you to do?
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…
James 1:27 (NIV)
Foster care and adoption?
YES!
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
John 14:18 (NIV)
But to reach the child in this story and so many others around the world, we have to step out and step into their lives…
For "everyone who call on the name of the Lord will be saved." How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
Romans 10:13-15 (NIV)
Is God calling you? Sending you? Has He chosen you to be His hands and feet to touch the lives of these children? Is He asking you to give warm hugs, rocking a crying child, play "Rock, Paper, Scissors" or "Duck, Duck, Goose" in a language you don't know?
DO YOU WANT TO GO TO CHINA?
