Shopping!
DO YOU WANNA GO TO CHINA? (www.AWAA.org/ACT)
This Mission Trip will not be a shopping trip, but I love what I've seen on the streets of China while shopping. Old world mingled with modern transportation. Huge department/grocery stores with an escalator designed for shopping carts with wheels that spin in all directions. Walking down side streets and back alleys filled with tiny family shops. However, my greatest heartbreak also happened while strolling through the streets with Peiwu and our guide. A woman had been following our little party for quite a while when she approached our guide. They spoke for a few minutes, and then the woman turned and walked away. Curiously we asked what had just transpired. Our guide explained that the woman had asked her why this American couple walked hand in hand with a Chinese little girl. Our guide explained that we had adopted Peiwu and would be taking her home to America. The woman then begged for us to take her daughter too. She wanted a better life for her little girl in America. Our guide dismissed her by explaining that it was far too complicated and impossible for that to happen. "Do you wanna go to China?" asks you to step into the lives of people living without the hope of Christ, to share God's love with "the least of these."
