Last summer, we intended to take the family to a local amusement park and also a water park. BUT…there were so many reasons that we never did. Money, time, and a rainy summer kept us home. Now if we had purchased tickets, we would have found the time. But with no money invested, we filled our summer days in other ways.
So this year when the school district sent home special ticket price information, I started to research. There is the school’s price, and the city has a special deal, too. All of these ticket deals are for one day admissions. The bummer with one day is that we always feel so much pressure to stay till we’re all exhausted and grumpy. We have to get our money’s worth out of that ticket! If Christopher takes off a day from work and then the weather is bad, he’s wasted a whole day, and we still didn’t get to use our tickets. So I also checked out the price of regular tickets and season passes just to compare the value. Would you believe that they had a special for season passes that included both parks and free parking? For the price of a season passport our family only needs to go to each park once and then by our third trip the pass is “making” us money.
So we took the plunge!
Sunday after church, we went to have our passport pictures taken and spent a few hours enjoying family time together.
It’s so funny, because the rest of the world sees a seven year old little girl with her family. They have no idea that she has never ridden a ride before in her life! The whole experience is new to her.
What fun! I think her squeals and giggles are still ringing in my ears.
Fortunately/unfortunately, we went on some of the bigger rides that she could do with an adult before the bigger kids needed to ride the newest roller coaster. Keziah and I went to the little kid section of the park to ride all the rides. “Boring!” Yep, she really said that at times. She was not impressed with things that went slowly in a circle. As we prepared to exit the park, she was so excited to ride a big roller coaster. She wondered as we watched other riders why they were screaming. Once she was on it, she had her answer, and she loved every minute of screaming. I asked her why she screamed when she was done, “Because it fun!”
She still has the heart of a race car driver. This will be a fun summer with her new found land of adventure.
