Please remember that we are a complex family. THREE boys! Two daughters from China. Oh, and we all love Tae Kwon Do.
President's Day weekend and no school on Monday meant we could really enjoy tonight as a family (even if Christopher is sick and dying from a cold. That and temps in the 70's meant he didn't take the older kids skiing here locally today to make up for missing out on the youth ski trip to Colorado this year).
When Christopher took the girls to the Daddy Daughter Dinner last night at church, I rented a couple of guy-ish movies with the boys. We didn't even get to watch the entire first movie before Baba and the princesses returned home. Bummer! So we just banished all the girls and finished the movie while they got ready for bed.
The second moive had been untouched...
But it was more of a "family" than the first one so we saved it for Sunday night and pizza - "The Spy Next Door"!
Yes, I know it had lots of action/violence. Just remember the disclaimer/warning at the beginning. Our family really enjoyed the movie. I wish I had video taped Hadassah Peiwu watching it. She was so funny. During the slap-stick, action/violence she would laugh and cheer and jump up and down and roll around on the floor.
When Jackie Chan's character Bob Ho sang a lullaby in Chinese, she just melted. Keziah burst out, "He from China?" (Watching any movie with Keziah is NOT a quiet experience. TONS of questions!!!) Totally took her by surprise that he was really Chinese. Duh! Don't think it dawned on any of the kids that they also watched him in "The Karate Kid" remake.
Then I think it sent Keziah for another loop at the end of the movie. ***SPOILER WARNING *** It's a kids's movie so of course it has a happy ending and Bob Ho marries the lady next door with her three kids. "He gonna be their dad?!?!?" Keziah again. How odd in her brain that a Chinese man would marry an American woman and be a dad to three American kids.
So it was a good movie for the Wade clan. Now if only I can keep the kids from acting it out in our home!?!?!
